Introduction – Main ideas
Due to a series of different circumstances, many youngsters may become Early Leavers from Education or Training (ELET) or even drop out from education entirely. This phenomenon has been proven to be detrimental for both the individuals and society at large, it’s necessary then to understand the root causes of this phenomenon and how it could be prevented.
This module has the objective to introduce the learner to the Early school leaving phenomenon, and it will consist of:
- A brief excursus on the definition of ELET, ESL and Drop-out, how these groups are categorised and the numbers of the phenomenon in Europe
- A presentation of the common predictive risk factors of Early School Leaving and the impact that each has regarding the phenomenon
- Guidelines for the construction of an effective Educational Network within the local communities for the prevention of ELET and example provided by existing systems
- An analysis of the current learning activities and methodologies, highlighting their flaws and the impact that they have on Early School Leaving.
