Introduction – Main ideas

After we explored and understood the impact of Early Leaving from Education or Training, we’ll now focus on another problem.

This module has the objective to introduce the learner to the NEET phenomenon, and it will consist of:

A brief excursus on the definition of NEETs, how the group is sub categorised and the numbers of the phenomenon in Europe.
Methodologies and techniques to intercept NEETs both online and offline, highlighting the challenges that can be found and success factors.
The role of Youth Workers and Teachers in the prevention of ESL and re-integration of NEETs and the explanation of the triangle of learning, living and working.
Strategies to support the integration of NEETs into education and employment; and how to further the skills of young people through up-skilling and re-skilling activities.

Lesson 1 NEET: behind the acronym	The definition of NEET How the aforementioned group is sub categorised The extent of the phenomenon in Europe	Adapt the given knowledge to their educational context Construct an informed opinion on ELET and Drop out phenomenon	Provide support for the groups more likely to become NEETs Provide educators with the knowledge of the extent of the NEET phenomenon in their countries and at the European level
Lesson 2 Methodologies and techniques to intercept NEETs	The successful implementation of outreach techniques The support provided by online platform in the outreach Identify Success factors and Challenges in the outreach of NEETs	Develop an effective outreach strategy Adapt outreach techniques to the heterogeneity of NEETs Utilise social media and online platforms to extent the outreach	Provide Youth Workers and other associations with the means needed the implement effective outreach strategies Give youngsters who are NEETs access to the means that are needed for their re-integration
Lesson 3 Holistic approach for Youth Workers and Teachers	The various elements that have an effect on the NEET phenomenon The coordinated action to be implemented to support NEETs The role of the Adviser as a support for the re-integration of NEETs	Construct a broader strategy for the support of NEETs Build and effective and constructive relationship with NEETs Develop a set of specific knowledge to become a better Adviser	Provide NEETs with an all encompassing support to better suit their needs Give the youngsters a person to whom to interact with and discuss a re-integration strategy that will be felt more relevant to their situation Give the Adviser the means to construct a broad network with other services and associations to better achieve their goal
Lesson 4 Strategies to support the integration of NEETs	The difficulties met by NEETs in their re-integration process The positive effects of “peer groups” The importance of awareness campaigns	Identify risk factors in the integration process Construct a functional and effective group of peers Manage an effective communication campaign	Provide specialiased help to face the difficulties that they may encounter during the re-integration process Give youngsters the possibility to interact with fellow peers that are facing the same difficulties Provide NEETs with access to a different array of opportunity to support their reintegration Organise multi platform awareness campaigns
